Workshop Details

We’ve all got strengths and weaknesses. And no matter how hard we try to positively reframe our weaknesses, we are often very hard on ourselves. We’re judgemental, self-shaming, overwhelmed.

But what if we could reframe our weaknesses positively? The concept of ‘Character Trees’ uses the analogy of an unbalanced tree, where one branch is over-developed and one is under-developed.

For example, the negative label of “perfectionism” can be reframed as an over-developed branch of “excellence” and an under-developed branch of “detachment”.

What is the purpose of Character Trees / Who is this workshop for?

Character Trees can be used as a method for 3 different practices:

  1. Being less judgemental of yourself: If you want to reframe the aspects of your character in a positive way, these practical strategies can empower you to strengthen the under-developed branch, without shaming yourself.

  2. Getting less annoyed with others: If you notice yourself getting frustrated with family, friends or colleagues (”I wish they weren’t so annoying”), this framework can help you pinpoint what part of their character is at the core of your frustration, allowing you to have spaciousness in how you respond.

  3. Giving feedback to others: If you need to give feedback in your personal or professional life, this process helps you get clarity on how to communicate it gracefully and confidently
